Back in the ‘hood

A walk through the West End without my phone or camera

Memories of cousin B… Cheers to you… it’s time for another visit !

On a mission to post a real letter, a birthday card to cousin Bridget. From English Bay. Stamp attached by the Pacific Ocean at my feet, blessed with a kiss, I carried it with me close to my chest, sharing that part of you so deeply carved in me, that part of you I carry with me day by day. That part of you you love so deeply coming right back at you. Thank you for mischief and wonder and courage, and a bond beyond any other.

My favourite cousin, I honour us in our truth of friendship for all my life. Thank you.

A reminder of who we are, loving kids finding our way.

We were taught to serve and honour. Religious military family kids. Safe and loved.

Gifted and privileged to see the world a little and get to know life, our place in it.

All our choices, and the truth knowing you are always there.

A piece of you is always with me.

Thank you cousin MBMH ~ you’s the best !

I found a post box, so dropped it in.

Enjoying memories of your visit, noticing the dramatic change in my old neighbourhood, whole new blocks of fabulous looking glass towers.

A forest of concrete and glass, great wealth growing like weeds.

Nostalgia, both cousin B and the old neighbourhood

Curious as to what it’s like to live here now…

We fought for community arts, is any of that thriving as promised ?

So many new buildings, giants.

Remember the earth, the trees ~ our distractions don’t matter.

Mother Earth, each other, all living things, equal.

Live is harmony, and we’re rocking the balance !

Forests culled, glass and concrete rise.

As do prices.

Less Less Less…

Of us, too many humans, my rant of terrifying realization.

And a delusional optimist who sees life as “yes” and “and” and “thank you”

Find peace within, and in community.

Working together we find a way.

A good way forward.

What does that look like today ?

It was a good walk… your love with me, all the way.

Thanks for being the calm in all the madness.

Wherever we are, always.

Love you cuz ~ Happy Birthday

Jx
