I came here for this

Photo of a card reproduction of Watercolour painting by Anne Louise Davies Heading Home the Orcas of Robson Bight, Salish Sea, Vancouver Island, BC.

Whales have spoken to me for many years. A book in a city. A holiday to Boston seeing whales tales on a boat tour.

Seeing pods swim by from the BC ferry.

Their breath and spout. That huge Exhale. A few close encounters from the shore. Two breached not far off the bluff. The excitement of the fin and tail. The sounds that have us look up in hope searching the space we think it came from.

They’re here. Some passing through, some resident families live year round. .

This image hung over my tv in the city, a reminder, a nudge. Now I’m here it hangs with honour and gratitude on my wall. A reminder to be curious and open to adventure. To get out and explore.

I just passed level one kayak skills to set out on the ocean, along the protected shores.

Zsuzsi just visited, she called out them the whole time paddling.

Hoping to soon return with this image as a photograph. A heart-stopping memory. Close to the miracle and majesty of such intelligent beings.

The Orca symbolizes family harmony longevity romance community protection. Said to protect those who travel away from home, and then lead them back in good time.

They remain a pod, raise & care for their calfs, families in these great oceans.

Imagine the excitement and connection as they swim under the kayak, inches away. Truly natures glory.

Manifesting, in gratitude, and awe of all living beings. Thank you life. Planet earth really is the coolest spaceship.

Here’s to the whales and a close encounter… thank you.
