Time for Life
Monte Python’s film The Meaning of Life entertained me from beginning to end, it seems to have tickled many of my friends too with observations of our own selves, humanity and life.
A few years later at a workshop in a field we explored spirit and limits with ropes course and sweat lodges and past life regressions along with heart to heart Sufi dances, leaving with renewed purpose in the ebb and flow of life.
Yet it was this image above that has stayed with me, B being birth, P being the present moment, D being death, and the ? being what time is left.
We can look back on the journey from B to P, and we can look forward from P to D not really knowing how much time is left… the magic is in the present, enjoying the now, and the opportunity “?” we all get to ponder on, what’s left for us to do and become, as we never know quite when the inevitable, unavoidable D will arrive.
Not like there is anywhere to go, or to get to, more in what’s our calling, our dharma.
What is the legacy we leave behind when we leave this life, our children, our work, our art, maybe a little of ourselves and our values.
We are spirit in a sturdy yet fragile human biological body, mostly water, a skin bag on legs, heart brain lungs, feelings thoughts words, and being, our human mind body spirit.
It is our spirit that leaves when our hear stops, leaving only a shell that looks like us, but is not us, for the essence of the soul leaves, our beautiful essence, our spirit crafted by family, experiences, life ~ that slice of the universe born into us that is you, uniquely you…
How do we express ourselves in this short life on earth, free from external influences, distractions, interruptions, what is our fullest contribution, what is there left for us to do, you, me, all of us, we all die, we all become a memory, leaving a mark, treasured by a few.
One of 7 billion alive today (and rising), one of 7,500 generations past, all our ancestors collective wisdom programmed into our DNA, allowing our light to shine, being the difference we wish to see in the world, being yourself unapologetically and fully you.
What’s in your “?”, in your limited time left ?
What does that even look like, and what a great place to come from day to day, letting yesterday go, being grateful for today’s sunrise, making the most of every given minute, until our last breath, able to say thank you for a gorgeous life…
Clarity, choice, purpose, calling… what’s next ?
I wish this for you and for me, for all of us. Conscious beings loving life on earth, in harmony, however brief. The candle. The flame. Burning bright. Extinguished. There’s only now.
Are you a yes to life…
Thank you.
